Smirthwaites Ltd (a Prism Healthcare company based at Heathfield) - specialises in designing and creating pediatric products to support SEND children in school and at home.

Over the summer holiday, we were able to create an additional room within the KS2 building, to be used as a sensory space for some of our SEND pupils.

Smirthwaites were incredibly generous in fitting this space out, at no cost to the school, with bespoke flooring, wall panels, seats, interactive equipment and lighting.

They also gave us a new, top of the range changing bench for use with SEND pupils in the Reception classes.

"This sensory room means a lot to my brother, because it helps him to relax. This room helps him when he feels overwhelmed throughout the school day. The soft walls and floor help my brother to explore and fulfil his sensory needs in a safe space.Thank you for giving my brother all of these things. If he could talk, he would say, “Thank you.”"
